It's a sad day when our parent company, Sprint, chooses to turn its back on us. We have until this Friday, May 13th, to decide what we're going to do. Our choices are as follows:
- We can choose to stay under Sprint, but doing so will require that we convert to a closed club. Existing non-Sprint members (including contractors) will be expected to give up their membership and may only participate as guests, at least from Sprint's point of view. Given that 2/3rds of our members are not Sprint employees, I don't see this as a viable option.
- We can relocate to another location. This presents two major problems -- finding a reliable place to meet could be a challenge, and it's likely that we will lose some members in the process since it will be less convenient for them.
- We can choose to merge with another Toastmasters group off campus. Black & Veatch has an open club that may be a possibility. But like the previous option, we may loose some members as a result.
We're going to put it to a vote this Thursday. At least nine members must be present for the vote to go through, so if you're a member, please try to make it to the meeting.
